How to Spot a Phishing Email Scam – Don’t Get Caught Out

Hey everyone, today I will sharing with you some key tips on spotting and avoiding phishing email scams.

Scams are everywhere and they are usually really enticing and draw people into clicking them… and then regretting it later. We at Ways to Work from Home are determined to ensure we help as many people as we can avoid getting caught out by these scams.

The shocking fact I found out when I did my research was that 30% of phishing email scams are actually opened, according to Verizon’s 2016 Data Breach Investigation Report. This makes it imperative we make as many people aware of ways to avoid these scams as possible.

Let’s start with describing what is a phishing email?

What is a Phishing Email?

Wikipedia describes “Phishing is the attempt to obtain sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details, often for malicious reasons, by disguising as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication”. Be The Boss Network Review

 Be the Boss Network

Overall Ranking:

Website: www.BeTheBossNetwork.com

INTRODUCTION

There are plenty of opportunities for a home-based business when you start looking online. So, what is the Be the Boss Network?  It is a directory showcasing them. Whilst I wouldn’t say it is a scam, I would not recommend it, especially for newbies, in this Be the Boss Network review I will go into why.

WHO IT IS FOR

It is a directory of opportunities and is aimed at anyone who is looking for an opportunity to earn money online. The problem is the high number of Multi-Layer Marketing (MLM) opportunities on there, the sales talk is good (they are in marketing, so it would be), so newbies might be interested in the offer and pay out a lot of a money on a model that sounds great, but is very unlikely to make you any money.  It is said only 1% of people make money from MLM opportunities.

What is Multi-Layer Marketing (MLM)?

Let’s just be clear on what is MLM is. MLM is where you earn commissions of the sales you make, and any sales from people you introduce to the selling of it. That is where the multi-layer comes into it.

Not all of them are real opportunities to earn a genuine living from them. Some of the real ones, you will have probably heard off such as Avon, Tupperware, etc. But the reason this are more realistic is because you are selling a product and not selling a platform or sales.

The big reason they are hard to earn any money from is because most of the products are high-priced. Then you have a high start-up cost and the less lucrative ones have a focus on recruiting sales people rather than the product.

Like I said before, only 1% of people are making money from an MLM opportunity.

They are very similar to pyramid schemes, where you pay to be in a higher tier with more expensive products to sell with higher commission. Which means you can end up paying a lot of money out to get the new product out, it just seems like a way to lose money, not make any.

The biggest advice I can give is that you must research any online business opportunity before handing over any money. If it is a scam, they will have you details and your credit card details.

Want a genuine home-based business opportunity, where you can try for free? Click here to learn more

HOW IT WORKS

You find a directory of all the opportunities on there, it gives you in one place the start-up cost, the description and detail behind the business. It also has a rating system.  It looks a very polished website and the opportunities look great.  However, if you take the first one on the list, it is ACN, it is a telecommunications MLM opportunity. It has a 5-star rating, but when you look at most of the ratings, they all only have one response. So, I wouldn’t rely on the ratings.

There are also scam products out there as well, I checked out Empower Network and I haven’t found anything good through my research to see why someone would pay $25 a month to have a blogging site, when you could have 2 free blogging sites with a starter account at Wealthy Affiliate, but then to have to pay an extra $19 a month to be able to sell their products through it is just a joke.

But, if you do find an opportunity you like, you sign up with them through the BTB website. They get a commission on you signing up and you have got yourself into the platform you were interested in.

PROS

  • Free access to their directory

CONS

  • Majority of the leads are towards Multi-Layer Marketing opportunities
  • Misleading Information about providing quality opportunities to work from home
  • Could appeal to newcomers – it is marketed well and without research handover high amount of money on an opportunity that will not yield results

TRAINING/TOOLS OVERVIEW

As it is a directory leading you to other opportunities there are no training or tools to be reviewed.  Any training will be with the company you sign up with

SUPPORT

Again, as it is a directory there is no support other than an FAQ, any company you sign up with will be offering the support for the platform they offer

PRICE

It is a free directory, the only cost you will have is if you take one of the opportunities you find on there.

FINAL OPINION/VERDICT

If someone who was new to online business opportunities found the website, they would find a professional looking website with a list of great looking opportunities to hand which means they could have a review of the list and see what they could find to help them earn their dream of working from home.  THAT IS THE PROBLEM. With that many MLM opportunities it can be too easy to take the Be the Boss Network at face value and use it.

I would recommend anyone who looks at the list to do some real thorough research before signing up for anything.  Really understand what you are signing up for and make sure you can afford to handover that kind of money upfront too.

Rapid Content Wizard Lightning Edition Review – Is it a Scam?

PRODUCT_NAME
 Rapid Content Wizard Lightning Edition

Overall Ranking:

Price: $97 upfront

Owner: Sean Donahoe

Website: http://rcwlightning.com

RCW Lighting Edition or Rapid Content Wizard is tagged as software that can write articles for you with a keyword search. Sounds like a dream to anyone who writes content for a website and knows how time consuming it can be, right?  But is it all it is cracked up to be? In this Rapid Content Wizard review we will be going through the features and see if this Article-Spinning Software is.

 WHO IT IS FOR

It has a great sales pitch and video showcasing how easy the software works and how quickly it can generate articles for you.  It is aimed at those who are looking for solutions and aren’t that confident with their own writing or struggle for time and wonder if there is an easier, quicker way to get content. This program fits the bill; the only issue might be compromising quality content for a quick-win??

HOW IT WORKS

So, once you have typed in the keyword you want an article about into the software, it pulls content relevant to that keyword from the internet and displays it in paragraph chunks for you to put your own article together.  Noticed the problem? As it has pulled content from other websites, it will be next to useless to you.  Search engines such as Google have several algorithms and filters to see whether content is duplicate, if it finds that the article you design with this is duplicate it will affect your rankings, if it gets ranked at all.

Also, if you are putting paragraphs together from a few articles, it means that it won’t make sense to the reader and consequently they will be turned off from your website, another bad sign.

The key to making money is from quality content, so by using this software to generate an article you cannot use, you would need to spend more time rewriting it into something you can use, meaning you might as well have done the research in the first place and save yourself $97.

I cannot stress the importance of quality content being king and the key to success. Posting poor quality content regularly will not make a difference to your opportunities to earn money, but if you have high quality content, albeit posted less frequently, it will have more long term benefits to you.

PROS

  • Pulls content together into a software where you can put an article together very quickly

CONS

  • As the content is pulled from articles already on the search engines, could be classed as duplicate and harm rankings or website
  • Doesn’t guarantee quality content, and different sections from different articles would make no sense to the reader
  • Seems like a waste of money, which could be spent on genuine freelance writers to write articles for you.

TRAINING/TOOLS OVERVIEW

The software seems relatively simple to use, type in a keyword and watch the different articles generate on the screen, and select which sections you want.

RCW features

You have sliders for number of words, paragraphs to select how long an article you want to write.  It also comes with a word processor which is based on Microsoft Word.

 PRICE

$97 upfront cost for the software, but in my opinion, due to the amount of work you would need to do after the article was generated, like a plagiarism check and rewriting it, why wouldn’t you just write an article yourself.

Need help learning how to write content that converts?

I have been looking at a few options to help with content, but when I have tried a few, freelancer for example, I found that my identity wasn’t coming out in the writing and went back to writing my own, why is this important? Well any visitor/reader on your website needs to believe the content and that you are genuine if you want them to try out any product you recommend or suggest they try.

 FINAL OPINION/VERDICT

On the face of it, the sales pitch is strong and it looks like it could tick all the boxes of a software that can generate 100’s of articles for you in a relatively short length of time, but as it is pulling this content from the internet, where do you think it is coming from?  That’s right, other people’s websites – so if you do post an article straight from this onto your website, it would get highlighted as duplicate content and it either wouldn’t rank or be negatively affected.

Otherwise you would be spending a lot of time rewriting it so it wouldn’t be duplicate, personally I would rather spend time writing my own, learn as I go and if I need to update it I can at a later date.

Verdict: Wouldn’t Recommend an Article-Spinning Software when all it would do is duplicate someone else’s content. It would harm your websites legitimacy and hurt your content ranking.

If you do struggle to write content naturally you could outsource but this would become expensive, if you would like to learn how to write content with intent check out our No.1 product for getting a business up and running and writing content naturally that will rank well, writing for a website doesn’t have to be difficult and shouldn’t cost $97.

The Coffee Shop Millionaire Review

The Coffee Shop MillionairePRODUCT_NAME
The Coffee Shop Millionaire Scam Alert

Overall Ranking: 58 out of 100

Price: $37/month + Upsells

Owners: Anthony Trister

Website: www.TheCoffeeShopMillionaire.com

Verdict: Hidden Costs, too many Upsells, Outdated Training and Support that is lacking. There are better products. (See our no.1 Product Review here)

 INTRODUCTION

The Coffee Shop Millionaire program (CSM) intends to teach you all the basics you need to get started in Internet Marketing. It has a number of training modules and lessons. However, by adding Millionaire into the title, it does set people up with high expectations of sitting in a coffee shop watching the money roll in.

 WHO IT IS FOR

The training modules lend it to all levels of ability in the Internet Marketing field. Although throughout the training there is an assumption you know something about Internet Marketing (not great for beginners), so even though prior to it, it looks like a system that can leave it to do the work, it isn’t and a lot of time and effort will be required to achieve anything.

 PROS

  • Relatively low monthly initial investment
  • Site is upfront about earning potential and work required to achieve it

 CONS

  • Positive review online is a result of a GURU launch
  • There are a number of unforeseen costs to be paid once you hand over the initial $37
  • Name leads to an expectation of becoming a millionaire which is unrealistic, even for its most successful users
  • Lots of complaints from other buyers online
  • The training is not up-to-date
  • Number of ‘Upsells’

 TRAINING/TOOLS OVERVIEW

There are twelve modules that cover the different activities to get started. With a selection of videos covering additional information.

There is also a community forum for specific questions.

The initial claim from this product is you will get a ‘cheat sheet’ that will outline a system to make $21k in just a couple of weeks without a product of your own and without a list. That is just an outrageous claim, even experienced Internet Marketers couldn’t agree to someone just starting out achieving that.

There are a number of modules on topics such as email marketing, video marketing, article submission and the local economy. All are valid and very effective ways of marketing, but the training is very vague, with outdated information, or lacking key elements

 SUPPORT

There are the usual phone/email routes, and claims of an active community that is supportive and informative.

However, there are a number of questions that go unanswered within the community, and feedback isn’t great about responses to Email.

 PRICE

So the initial cost is $37/month for entry into the Coffee Shop Millionaire Club, membership gives you the training and support (albeit limited). But as soon as you sign up, you are asked to upgrade to another product called ‘Six Figure Success Club’. For another $297!! So they entice you in with a low monthly figure, then hit you with an additional cost straight away.

But for the program to be successful you may end up paying more! The program doesn’t cover website creation, domain acquisition or hosting it.

So you have a training program for doing these things, but will need to fork out additional costs to get it up and running, otherwise the cost really does become a waste.

It is ‘upsell’ after ‘upsell’ in CSM

 FINAL OPINION/VERDICT

When you do some research into this product you will find a number of positive reviews of this product, but they tend to come from a group of people promoting each other’s services to make them money, not necessarily you to make money.

The website has a long video, which will probably bore you (if you manage to sit through it) and not give you the relevant information, meaning you are intended to sign up. But you will only get half the product by doing this, and end up very much out of pocket without the even getting started.

I would say this product is OK, but with ruthless
marketing techniques and a high number of Scam Alertcomplaints.

If you do want an online training program, that will teach you in-depth techniques the right way then why not join me here.

If you have questions, then please let me know how I can help.

Is Dotcom Secrets X a Scam?

PRODUCT_NAME
Dotcom Secrets X SCAM ALERTDotcomSecrets X

Overall Ranking:star-4star-3star-0star-0star-0

Price: $1 for two weeks, $47 a month (+ other costs)

Owners: Russell Brunson

Website: www.dotcomsecrets.com

 INTRODUCTION

Dotcom Secrets X is a program designed to help new marketers make money online. It is made by its owner Russell Brunson. The techniques it describes can help make you money online, but not before it drains your money on hidden upsells, that are required to continue the program.

 WHO IT IS FOR

It is designed for people with no experience of internet marketing, and promises to teach you all the techniques you will need. (There are better options, see here).

 HOW IT WORKS

During the 14-day trial there are activities set out for each day, step by step training guide. Be mindful, there are stages here you apply for additional features, for example an autoresponder. This is an important feature, but you end up buying their package ‘Pure Leverage’, it isn’t included and can cost an additional $54.40 a month. You also do not end up with guarantee sales out of it.

You get access to the system for getting your website on day 14, but this is Russell Brunsonanother upsell with their GVO hosting program. Which is not part of the program, but is still owned by Russell Brunson. This ends up being an additional $9.97 a month.

Meaning you must sign up for the remaining program to do anything with the website.

You also cannot cover the rest of the training at your own pace. You cover a module a month, it is called the ‘Monthly Immersive Coaching’. So you are paying $47 for each module. Which you will probably cover in a couple of hours, then wait a month to do the next module.

Hardly very supportive. You will also find that Russell disappears from the modules after a few, which doesn’t make you feel valued as a customer. There are also some lessons with YouTube video. Which you could otherwise get for free! So you pay $47 dollars to then watch free videos.

 PROS

  • Step by Step Guide
  • Lessons on relevant subjects

CONS

  • Cost, this package doesn’t warrant the costs
  • You cannot follow the training at your own pace.
  • Free videos, you are paying for
  • No guarantee of success
  • Russell Brunson isn’t apparent after you start paying for the service.

 TRAINING/TOOLS OVERVIEW

During the trial 14-day period, you have daily training and steps to follow. Once you have upgraded after this period, you move onto monthly training and steps to follow. But like I said before, once you have completed that step, what are you going to do until the next month?

SUPPORT

I am not sure about the support offered, as I clicked the ‘customer help-desk’ link and it told me the page doesn’t exist, which doesn’t fill me with confidence. You also cannot contact the owner or use a live chat function for any questions, etc.

 PRICE

They offer the 14-day trial period for $1, after this period you will need to fork out $47 a month just to follow the training.

They suggest their own Pure Leverage Autoresponder, but this will equate to $54.40 a month. If you go with their suggested website builder, GVO, that is another $9.97 a month.

So $47 + $54.40 + $9.97 = $111.97.

That doesn’t include the money you spend, following their instructions on Solo Ads. Which isn’t guaranteed success.

 FINAL OPINION/VERDICT

My suggestion is you stay away from this product. There are too many concerns Scam Alertraised over their program to even suggest you try the 14-day period. There are ways of learning these techniques without forking out the costs mentioned in this review.

On the website, you can order a guide that gives you instruction on these Dotcom Secretstechniques which suggests you only pay shipping costs, I haven’t tried, but if you do only pay shipping it might be worth you try that instead.

Alternatively, see what we thing about the number one recommend product by us here, which is totally legitimate and you can get 2 free websites with a free starter membership.
