An Introduction to Swagbucks
Swagbucks HQ is based in California and is a subsidiary brand of Prodege, LLC. This is a leading Internet & Marketing company that operates a number of customer engagement brands.
Swagbucks is a very popular reward platform and has been growing in popularity since it is easy and free for anyone to join.
They offer gift cards or cash rewards for completion of tasks. Whilst other providers remain solely with surveys, Swagbucks mixes it up by other alternative ways to earn rewards, including:
- Shopping at Retailers
- Watching Entertainment Videos
- Searching the Internet
- Answering Surveys
- Finding Great Deals
You earn points and when you hit certain criteria you can cash them out for either gift cards or cash rewards.
Who is Swagbucks For?
You need to be 13 years of age to sign up with Swagbucks and anyone who wants to earn some extra money can benefit from using Swagbucks. It couldn’t be said that it is a way of earning enough using it to make it a full-time income, but if you spend a lot of time searching the web – just use their search bar and you will find the points do add up.
That is why it is for someone looking for a bit of pocket money.
How Does Swagbucks Work?
First things first are the sign-up process is really simple, their website is secure which is key nowadays and you could even use Facebook to sign in with them.
Once you are logged in and confirmed your email address is real, you will see your dashboard, like the picture below:
You can also log into Swagbucks on your phone, which makes it bit easier to earn a few points whilst on your lunch break, etc.
There are a number of ways of earning points, like I mentioned before. It does depend on your interests as to how many points you can earn doing certain tasks.
A typical survey will take you 10-15 minutes and only earn you 50 SB points. You need at least 700 SB points to cash out.
So, the best bet is to go for the featured ways to earn – but this depends on your interests. I receive 500 SB points for signing up with the World Lottery Club, this was fine as I got a free bet on the Euro Millions Lottery. But looking at the list today, whilst the points rewards look great – they don’t interest me. I am married, so wouldn’t sign up for a dating site just to get some points.
Watching Videos, sounds like easy money. But be mindful – you only earn 2 or 3 SB points for about 20 minutes of video and you can’t just let it play and walk away.
Every so often, there will be a little test to prove you are still watching – i.e. click the pictures with cats on.
Shopping is probably the best feature if you are a shopaholic – They offer great cashback deals, the ones on there today for me are 6% cashback for the body shop, 3% on M&S. So if you are a regular shopper online, you can make some decent deals.
Play games for points is a bit of fun or searching the internet from their search bar also earns you points.
These are all great ways of earning a few points, the only thing I did find that let Swagbucks down was the surveys. This might be down to being from the UK – But I found that even after completing a number of prerequisite questions, I still get chucked out of a lot of surveys. So earning from surveys could be a problem, depending on your location or demographic.
They offer daily goals for bonus SB points and you can also refer a friend for 500 SB points.
How Do I Get Paid?
Swagbucks offers a number of ways of cashing out your points:
- Gift-Cards for a number of retailers
- PayPal – Get it paid straight into your account
- Sweepstakes – you can use your points to enter Sweepstakes
- Donate – if so inclined you could donate some of your winnings
To cash out, you need to hit a certain level. A £5 Amazon gift card would need 720 SB points whilst £5 into my PayPal would require 800 SB points.
Just be mindful, you would need to active daily to benefit enough to cash out regularly.

How Much Does It Cost to Join?
It doesn’t cost anything to join Swagbucks and you can get started pretty quickly after joining.
What is the Support Like?
Support is covered via FAQ’s and their Facebook page is a great place for contacting them in case of any issues.
If you already complete any of these tasks already when surfing the web, you can earn some money through Swagbucks. Shopping, Watching Videos, Using their Search Engine.
Cashback sites are a great way of saving money when shopping, so combining a few of them would benefit anyone – Swagbucks, TopCashBack, etc. would be great to have.
I personally don’t think the surveys side will benefit you unless you live in the US, but then I personally made more using Prolific than Swagbucks in my research.
Swagbucks is Genuine and definitely worth Signing Up with
If you are looking for a way of earning some extra money, then Swagbucks can benefit you but just be mindful it will not earn you a real income opportunity.
